Good grief about half this episode is Alicia having the same argument with the Lieutenant like a tape loop. Glad it finally gets resolved.

The plot of this episode was probably (loosely) based on the old country-folk ballad "The Long Black Veil," in which a man can't testify he witnessed a murder because he was "in the arms of my best friend's wife." This song was famously covered by The Band on their first album, "Music From Big Pink."
