Leon Janney played Vaudeville as a young boy and began in radio in 1926, soon moving to the legitimate stage. He appeared in one Little Rascals film and many radio dramas.

Leon Janney (84 episodes) was born on April 1st. Leon Janney has most distinctive voice on CBSRMT, and has veterans of radio drama with a lot of shows under their respective belts.

If you watched TV during the 60's and 70's , YOU HEARD LEON JANNEY ! Janney did 100's of voice-overs for TV commercials and PSA's . . .He was the narrator on the popular Sat. morning cartoon " WACKY RACES " (1967-1969 ) Also, He starred/appeared in episodes of these old time radio series: ( partial list ) Suspense - The Mysterious Travler - X minus One - Inner Sanctum - Columbia Workshop - and starred in his own show: " The Adventures of Dick Cole," an action show aimed at young boys. He also was seen as a kid and teen in the popular movie series "Penrod and Sam" (1930) His unique voice and talent for accents and altering his voice for different roles made him a perfect fit for CBSRMT. He died too young in 1980. One of my personal top 10 voice actors.

Happy 100th birthday to one of my favorites from the Mystery Theater, Mr. Leon Janney, an actor of radio, television, film, and stage! Janney was a child actor in the 20s and 30s who transitioned well into a career in the NYC area after WWII. I only wish that he had gotten a birthday spotlight today.

Here are at least two more more "adult" image of the great Leon Janney: I think it's amazing when you look at the wealth of TV and movie appearances CBSRMT actors have made: The Munsters (Gwynne), Car 54, Where Are You (Janney AND Gwynne), Charley (Janney), The Exorcist (Mercedes McCambridge), a bunch of Woody Allen movies (Tony Roberts), etc.

Leon Janney was a very well known Hollywood child star in the 1920s and 30s. He appeared in over 50 films and television programs including his role of Spud in a Little Rascals short. His TV appearances included the daytime soap operas, Another World and the Edge of Night. In the 40s he appeared in dozens of radio dramas including Gangbusters, Charlie Chan and Suspense. He had roles in 20 Broadway productions and did voice over work in hundreds of commercials.
