A young lady is at odds with her rich father. She and her boyfriend fall in with a couple of opportunist beatniks who devise a plan to stage a kidnapping (of her) with the hope of extorting money from her father. Not finding satisfaction in the police investigation of her disappearance, the father hires a private investigator who attempts to piece together the truth with very few leads.

A "retelling" of the Patty Hearst abduction. The person's last name is Mellon (see the Mellon-Scaifes, Pittsburgh news tycoons), and the Symbionese Liberation army has a new name, but the circumstances are similar.

And our kids turn out just like us...... 40 years later, how true!

Steve Killian

Poor little rich girl Maryann Mellon gets involved with the Blood of the People's Advanced Revolutionary Army and changes her name to "Chris." (The other members have names like "Zipper" and "Hammer.")

I recall a passage on Wikipedia describing the series' "tin ear for dialogue," especially when it tried to bring youth culture into the show. Look no further than this far-out, groovy trip to see why. And embarrassed and miscast group of actors struggles to get through a hopelessly silly script that turns the Patty Hearst story into a 70s version of Reefer Madness. Excruciating.

Matt Sandwich

I think I'd have to agree with Mr. Sandwich's assessment of dialogue. At first I was going to wonder how the detective got ahead of the FBI and police, but then I remembered he asked the father more pointed questions that the father didn't want those agencies to know the answers to. I did like how E.G. described what happened to everyone afterwards, especially with the line about Justice being blind.

Chris be on them vapors.

Mason Adams - "With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good."
