loved this show when I was in high school... guess what *I* was listening to from 9:07 on!

Maybe I shoulda traded places with Paul. I was in grade school, and it started at 11:07pm for us. (I had to be in bed, but they couldn't MAKE me go to sleep.) In the winter, I'd be curled up in bed with my electric blanket (no longer recommended), listening on my little GE clock radio (still have one of its descendants on my nightstand). When school was out, I'd be in the living room listening on the family stereo. Good times. How wonderful those electric blankets were on freezing cold winter nights!

In grade school in came on at 10:07 by me. Best summer memories of sleeping out on the screened in porch, eating somemore's & listening to MT with the crickets chirping in the background. Ahhh, the good old days!

A great one indeed

I love this episode and absolutely disagree with Jardine. It holds up to multiple hearings, and is still enjoyable. Ralph Bell and Russell Horton are terrific, as are the other cast members. It may not be a perfect adaptation, but it's great fun to listen to and I'm glad that CBSRMT dramatized stories like this as well as contemporary drama/mystery/horror tales. Also, Milliecent J., please try not to give too much away in your plot summaries. It's really not necessary. After all, that's why we come here - to listen to the tales unfold. This episode is a favorite of mine. The spooky and melancholy atmosphere in stories always draws me in. That's probably why I like "Wuthering Heights" so much.

I rate this episode ★★★★★ for EXCELLENT. A remarkable story, written by James Agate, Jr., that combines the Drama-Mystery & the Fantasy-Mystery. It's like a soap opera series meets The X-Files. This CBSRMT episode is based on a story by Richard Donovan. It was originally called "The Corpse Light" and he was known as Dick Donovan. The sound effects of the pouring rain, cottage door, thunder & lightning, chickens clucking, horse neighing, birds chirping, hollowing wind, creaking door of the haunted mill, the bats, footsteps, the haunted mill door slam shut, bolt unlocked, lighting of the match, horse galloping, seagulls, whipping of the horse, and cutting the cord were all suitable for this ghastly tale. Not only there was music from the TWILIGHT ZONE series in this, but the music tunes with violins were grippingly & hauntingly wonderful. Just like the music in Ep. #1245-THE JUDGE'S HOUSE, the music in this will keep you on the edge of your seat. In our Host's Prologue, E.G. Marshall starts off by talking about Mysticism, Occultism, and Spiritualism and our main character starts off as a skeptic and will eventually change his mind about the unnatural. In ACT-1, he quotes Nobel Prize Winning French Surgeon & Biologist Dr. Alexis Carrel who said, "A few observations and much reasoning, leads to error. Many observations and a little reasoning, leads to truth." Later on, we learn that the people in this story are gripped on fear, fate and fantasy. In ACT-2, the main character's reconciling his scientific facts with forbidden knowledge. In the end of the Act, we ask ourselves did one of these characters turn into a ghost. In ACT-3, E.G. Marshall asks if science of cause & effect didn't help our main character, what can he find out? In the end, our main character's greatest mystery of all, was that he should've been selected by some supernatural power to bring this crime to light (I'd agree and that would've been great to hear if this was a 2-part episode). In his Epilogue, E.G. Marshall informs us fans that people who study in the Occult believe that anyone who suffered a violent death cannot rest until the death has been avenged; that the spirit will keep reliving its final agony and trust that fate will be kinder to us that we don't meet up with the undead. Our great Host was both informative & entertaining. And speaking of entertaining, our Sensational cast: Ralph Bell (as Dr. James Patmore), Russell Horton (as Charley Royce), Patricia Elliott (as Hannah Bliss), and Court Benson (as John Royce & Esra Hart). Kudos to Court Benson for playing 2 roles. Russell Horton's one of my favorite CBSRMT actors and I'm glad he was in this one. I applaud Patricia Elliott for playing her role with a soft, gentle, and dainty voice. But I think Ralph Bell was the one who stole the show. A good role he played; from being a skeptic man of reason, to a believer of the unnatural. Applause to you as well, Ralph Bell. If you're becoming a fan of CBSRMT or you're a fan from the beginning, I highly recommend this one to you; a great story to listen to in the dark. Until next time…pleasant dreams. =^D

Came on at 11:06 on WHIO in Dayton, Ohio for me. I bought a radio at a garage sale and hid it under my bed. THANK YOU for putting these online!!!

Right after The CBS News then local news updates on 850 KOA in Denver. I think it came on at 10:11 pm. In the early to mid 70's I feel asleep some nights listening while I was Junior High School age up until I started working at the Drive In Theater and couldn't listen anymore. In Denver it was followed up by The Bill Barker Show and I sometimes stayed up and was introduced to talk radio, politics and policies and other grownup subjects.

I loved this episode, it is one of those radio shows that just transports you to a different place and time. I didn't want this one to end. Fantastic story and great acting by Ralph Bell and Russell Horton

9:07 for me when i was in grade school,but we would listen to it in the car on Friday nights driving to grandparents who lived a few hours away. Sometimes there would be extra suspense when we lost the signal and had to search around the AM dial to find another station broadcasting at the same time.

Pretty good episode but one thing that always bumps me is when the producers mismatch two voices. Ezra is supposed to be Silis’s brother but their voices make them sound like they’re ages are 50 years apart. Silis is a young man in love but his brother Ezra sounds like he’s 80+ years old, so ridiculous sorry. Still pretty good though.

I love Patricia Elliot’s voice!
