A judge's son refuses to support his father's decision to give a murderer life in prison instead of the death penalty. The young man decides to take the matter into his own hands and goes to visit the convicted killer. This story really doesn't seem to go anywhere and isn't much more than a surface examination of the death penalty debate. Genre: Drama

Roberta

A judge is about to make a decision on a difficult murder case that could either lead to the death penalty, or to life in prison. His son is quite adamant that the defendant should be killed for his crimes and pesters his father about it. After the judge gives a 20 year sentence the son is livid and talks about taking the law into his own hands. He is goes so far as to acquire a gun and seek a meeting with the convict in his cell…

Goodness! No wonder the kid was unbalanced. With a mother who seems to be constantly on the verge of hysteria. And is whiny-sounding about it, too! Ugh. Interesting take on the parent/child relationship, though. 3 stars.

Vicky Hernandez

I agree w/Vicky. The mother’s voice & actions are like fingernails on a blackboard. Whiny & complaining, she’s the thorn in this tale.

Sharon

I agree with Vicky that it's an interesting take on the parent/child relationship. I supposed being the son of a judge can make a child a little different as well, depending upon how much he talks about his work (or how much the child reads about the parent's decisions). A fairly good listen.

How is it that William Prince died eight years before Mystery Theater first aired? Chilling indeed...

Mike

The judge really needs to slap a gag order on his son. What a mouthy, worthless lout!

I appreciated how, at the end, EG calls us 'dear listeners' and reads from the Book of Psalms. Unique.

Kathy

I agree- the wife sounds like an annoying bubblehead, and very easily upset. The son is the real prize- a complete nut log. This is not one of the better episodes. Thanks for posting these, though- these are a great blast from the past!
