Ken Lynch had a truly unique voice and portrayed much more than an 'Irish cop', but he was almost always in a tough guy role. Rather than 'Irish cop', I would define his typical role as an 'intimidating cop, bully or crook'. His voice (and the way he used it) is unforgettable. I would describe it 'buzzsaw cutting a hornet nest in half'. His is a voice that pretty much any fan of 50s and 60s television would recognize.

Ken Lynch has always fascinated me, starting when he appeared in an episode of "The FBI" as a criminal nicknamed "The Shooter" who was spooked when he was dealt a hand in a card game that was identical to a hand dealt to an ill-fated colleague just before he met his met his fate. His voice was part of his mystique, and he usually played somewhat unpleasant people. A typical role for him was as the liquor store owner whose shop was closed, but that didn't stop Jack Lemmon from plaintively demanding a bottle of some sort of booze. When Lemmon fell or tripped outside the shop, Lynch opened up a bottle and poured the contents on Lemmon's face, while scorning him with a line like "I'll give you all the whiskey you want!" while laughing heartily. Dutch Uncle or friendly grandfather types were not his forte! Little is known about his family, but he reportedly had 4 children.

I totally agree. The episode of the FBI was called The Raid. It's my favorite episode aired 1/1/1967.Ken did a lot of Jack Webb and Quinn Martin shows plus the Andy Griffith and Gomer Pyle shows too. Great Actor in my opinion
