Based on the story "An Upheaval"?

This episode was without a doubt my favorite Chekhov adaptation. 4 stars. Nikolai carried a gun in the off-chance that he might have to kill his wife; imagine, if there were gun control he never would have had the chance to carry. On the other side, who is to say that his wife was also not packing heat. We live in a complicated time...

I really liked bits of this adaptation, especially Hecht and Hammond, who are always great together. Otherwise, I really hate Patricia Elliott. But I have never liked her voice or style in anything here.

I know what you mean about her voice. I especially dislike it when she lets out a huge sigh of breath after every other sentence. It drives me crazy, lol!

This is the first time I've ever experienced a Chekhov story and not wanted to kill myself during or afterwards! LOL Nicely done!

I gotta say that Earl Hammond and Anne Seymour did a spectacular stand-out performance here. They really made you believe this was in Russia. To think that they just received second billing. Paul Hecht was interesting too but sounded more like he was American. Miss Elliott I didn't really care for.
